Fire in Judaism Part 1
Fire is endlessly fascinating. The deep involvement in our intra-personal and inter-personal lives that campfires, or even individual candles, can elicit, shows that something in the human psyche responds powerfully in the presence of flame. Every culture has consecrated the use of fire. Even in our partially secularized, contemporary western society, we understand the connection of candlelight and romance, of bonfires and community bonding.

Waiting Is
For most of us waiting is not easy, but is often a bore. Waiting for a bus or train, we look for something to do to pass the time. Sitting in a doctor’s waiting room, we idle away the minutes thumbing through magazines of no particular interest.
We want the waiting to be over with, so that we can get on with whatever is the next task at hand. Yet in treating waiting this way, we deny ourselves a most valuable opportunity.
